  Judicial Committee formed, can they do that with only one "witness"?

  i have started to read about cults with the book by steve hassan.

  i look over my shoulder at the library, no way in the world i will check it out or buy it and take it home.

  thank you all for your recommendations.

  So at the last meeting with me with two elders, they said they had two witnesses, said that now a second sister had come forward saying I had had inappropriate contact with her as well two years ago. But I called the sister from the parking lot, we are still friends, and she said no way did she confess, there is nothing to confess.

  Can't you bring this person as your own "witness", prove that you caught them in a lie but say you won't take it further if they leave you the hell alone? Then fade away without any hassle. You could quote all those scrips about liars not inheriting God's Kingdom, Jehovah hating deception and on and on til they surrender. Have it all prepared and make it go on for as long as you can manage to listen to yourself!

  Turn it around on them and see what happens.

  U could try reading Hassan's book and get some ideas from that.

  That's my plan but its too soon for me to implement it at the moment. Will let you know if I'm sucessful.

  Watchtower CLUB Society.....

  this is actually wt's real name.

  wt has become actually a social club and nothing more.

  jws are in a "religious" club with activities that includes picnics, staying in hotels(assembley) going out for leasure, excursions in the "holy land- brooklyn".

  How do you feel now? EVOLUTION OR CREATION??

  as jws we were no doubt staunch creationists.

  but how do you feel now??

  do you still opt for creation or do you now feel evolution offers the right answer.

  Due to a silly comment an elder made (something along the lines of Alistar McGrath totalling "debunking" Dawkins) I went off and read both "The God Delusion" and "The Dawkins Delusion". I certainly don't agree with everything Richard Dawkins says but he sure does make ya think!

  I've also watched the entire "Dover Trial" reenactment and am trying to educate myself on the sciences and issues that I was blinkered to all my life. Evolution vs creation is not a religious choice to me. Evolution really did happen but whether (a) God was involved or not is the only part that there's a question mark over.

  For anyone in the UK/Ireland, Dawkins has a new series on Channel 4 at the moment. Very interesting stuff.

  when we meet he was not practicing has not practice for some few years.

  Isn't firing someone for being DF'd unfair dismissal or something? Seems pretty extreme to me.
  I know of several instances where a witness employee who gets DF'd stays working for a JW employer. In one case, the business was co-owned by 2 JWs one of whom got DF'd. They had to interact for their livelihood.

  Let me check to see if I have this straight - You've been living together (unmarried) for the last couple of years. Now he's got a sudden pang of "conscience" and wants to get married so that he can get reinstated but in doing so you'll inherit all his debt? It seems as though he's wanting to have the appearance of clean living (no offence, its just that 2 people in a relationship cohabiting is seen as "unclean" in JW eyes) and is being a bit selfish in the process.

  Why does he want to go back to it? Does he really believe it? Seems unlikely if he saw nothing wrong with living with you all this time.

  Perhaps you could get him to read "Crisis of Conscience" by Ray Franz or join this group. Tell him you're open to him choosing his own way forward but that its important to see the other side too.
  There's so many things that the JWs have gotten completely wrong. He may well be going back out of guilt and fear because on some level he still believes in it. Maybe if you can show him that they are not speaking truth he'll give up on the idea of getting back in to it.

  found a piece of glass

  in my ice cream - what should i do?.

  i called the store where i bought it to suggest they might want to take the offending product of the shelf - but they sounded like they could care less.. i called the company, nestle, today and they will be sending someone over to pick up the 2 pieces of glass and investigate.. 2 of my 3 kids ate from this ice cream, but my mom is the one who found the piece, she actually chewed it and it got caught in her tooth, i think she thought it was .

  one of the pieces of smarties and was biting down on it.. should i follow up with them?

  I found a piece of wire in a pie once. Called the company and they sent on a voucher to me.
  The shop has so many products going in and out, they probably don't have much time to investigate.

  If you stress that there were children eating their product and how dangerous the results could have been, you'll get more out of them.

  Reading Steve Hassan's Book. WOW!

  hassan's book is helping me so much in letting go and not being affraid of being found out by the jw's here in "greenland.

  " .

  what amazing information about how the jw's compare to other high control groups and cults.. he hasn't even mentioned the jw's, so far.. it is helping me so much in gaining my confidence and not worrying about what jw's preach about the end of the world, and such.. i love this book!.

  I'm kinda echoing what others have said but its such a good book that I wanted to make a comment.

  I found that finding out all the things that WTS have done wrong really knocked me for 6 and I constantly had all sorts of conflicting thought and emotions running around in my head. I couldn't seem to get a handle on things til I read that book. It helped me to put some order on my thought, labels for want of a better word. It helped clarify things, helped me see I wasn't some idiot for falling for this and that there is a way to get my life back together in spite of this unpleasant experience. I'm also hoping to use the info to get my family to see the light. Hopefully.

  Its a bit easier to be more open with this book than say Ray's books coz technically it isnt apostate.

  previous to that he was mostly shunning me.

  without getting into details, he had given me room to explain things, especially as to how i have 'changed' as a result of leaving.
